Clipboard-first screenshots and on-screen text recognition.

Getting started

Region screenshot → clipboard: press ⌃⌥A, drag to select an area, and release. The screenshot is copied directly to your clipboard. While the notice is visible, press S to save a copy.
Screen OCR: press ⌃⌥S, then drag across the on-screen text you want to copy.

First launch

Trigger a capture and open System Settings when prompted.
Open Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and enable SnapOCR.
Quit and relaunch SnapOCR for the permission to take effect.

Tips

Double-click to select a word. Use ⌘A to select all and ⌘C or Enter to copy.
Turn off Language Correction when copying code, numbers, or identifiers.
If you hide the menu-bar icon, the shortcuts keep working. Open SnapOCR again from Spotlight to restore the icon.

Troubleshooting

The shortcuts do nothing

Make sure Screen Recording permission is enabled, then quit and relaunch the app.

OCR misreads code or numbers

Turn off Language Correction in Settings for a more literal result.

The menu-bar icon disappeared

This is usually background mode. Open SnapOCR again from Spotlight or Finder to restore the icon.
